Established in 1996 through financial support from the County of Ventura, the ten cities within the county, and influential private-sector enterprises, the EDC is a private nonprofit organization. Its primary objective is to foster business growth, enhance economic prosperity, and improve the overall quality of life for all individuals.

Presently, in collaboration with the Small Business Development Center, the EDC serves as a crucial regional asset for promoting economic vitality across Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles counties. It offers a wide range of resources to assist businesses, community partners, and civic leaders in achieving success. Through effective utilization of both public and private funds, the EDC has emerged as a significant contributor in providing business consulting, funding opportunities, and strategic initiatives that bolster the regional economy.
