A story closed in a bottle - how perfumes were born...
"It's impossible to imagine how perfumes work until you start using them — it's such a difference as a dress on a hanger and a dress on you."
We like to surround ourselves with beautiful fragrances, and perfume bottles, despite their high price, are still a very desirable commodity. Colorful, elegant bottles, beautifully laid out on the shelves of pharmacies, make the hearts of not only women, but also men beat faster.
Read in the blog "Antina Anta - my view" how spirits were born.
The smell has always accompanied a person. It evokes memories and is able to touch the most delicate strings of our mind. Marilyn Monroe was "sprayed" with two drops of Chanel No. 5, and their creator Coco recommended perfuming places where you want to be kissed, and Versace believed that a woman without perfume is not fully dressed. However, those who think that spirits are a sign of our time are mistaken.
The name of the perfume comes from the Latin word per fumum.literally means "through the smoke". The name is probably not accidental. Incense smoke was used by ancient peoples to communicate with the gods and such smoke was supposed to enhance the power of prayer. Until now, many people use herbs and incense to fumigate rooms and people to scare away evil spirits. In 2007, an unusual discovery was made in Cyprus, where archaeologists found the oldest spirits in the world. Full bottles were unearthed in the southern part of the city of Pyrgos. The spirits are about 4000 years old, and they are almost in perfect condition. In addition to perfumes, vessels for the manufacture of perfumes were also found here. A team of Italian perfumers managed to recreate perfumes that were once closed in bottles. The ingredients of the perfume are extracts of lavender, rosemary, pine, laurel and coriander.
