[1] In the over-the-counter pain reliever PainAid, salicylamide is combined with aspirin and caffeine. It was also an ingredient in the over-the-counter painkiller BC Powder, but it was removed from the formula in 2009, and Excedrin used it with aspirin, acetaminophen and caffeine between 1960 and 1980. It was used as a substitute for phenacetin in the later Australian Vincent Powder formulation.
