One of the major reasons people choose to visit Kuala Lumpur is to enjoy the various golf courses in this region of Malaysia. The best golf courses in Kuala Lumpur can be found within close proximity to the city itself and this makes accommodation and travel very easy during a golf holiday.
TPC Kuala Lumpur Golf Club
Which golf courses you decide to play when in Kuala Lumpur is a personal choice but there are some fantastic options available including TPC Kuala Lumpur. This Golf Club is located just 8 kilometres away from the city centre and boasts two 18-hole golf courses called the West Course and East Course. The West Course opened for play in 2008 and is a strategic course with large bodies of water which come into play throughout the 18 holes. This is the longest and regarded as being the toughest of the two golf courses at TPC Kuala Lumpur. It has played host to several professional tournaments.
The East course is a parkland style course which features many changes in elevation and has been voted the 4th best golf course in Malaysia. This course was completely redesigned in 2010 and the landscaping is exceptional, making it one of the most beautiful golf courses in Kuala Lumpur. In addition to the two golf courses there is the Golfer’s Terrace, Connoisseurs Lounge and Restaurant, Niji Japanese Restaurant, Qureshi Indian Restaurant plus Sports Café which offer a wide choice of dining following a round of golf.
Saujana Golf and Country Club
As you can already see from the two golf courses above, many of the best golf courses in Kuala Lumpur are within a 30-minute journey of the city itself. This applies to Saujana Golf and Country Club, which is only 17 kilometres away from the city centre and very easy to reach for those staying in the city. Saujana Golf and Country Club is another top golf course in Kuala Lumpur which offers two 18-hole golf courses.
Both courses were established in 1986 and share a similar range of features including lakes, ponds, bunkers, undulating fairways and testing mounds. The Saujana Palm Course Is perhaps the most popular of the two having played host to the first Asian/European Tour event In Asia and has also successfully hosted the Malaysia open many times. As one would expect from a golf course to have hosted such prestigious events, it provides a very good challenge.
However, the Bunga Raya Course is regarded by many people as being the better of the two courses due to the tighter and more undulating fairways. You are best advised to make time to play both courses and you can then make your own mind up as to which is superior but it will be a tough choice.
Glenmarie Golf and Country Club
Once again, we are heading a short distance outside the city of Kuala Lumpur to reach our next golf course which is called Glenmarie Golf and Country Club. Established in 1993, it did not take long for Glenmarie Golf and Country Club to become known as one of the best golf courses in Kuala Lumpur. The Valley Course is home to many pine trees and the fairways are narrow and undulating. However, much like the Garden Course there are plenty of water hazards to look out for during the round.
Aside from the two superb golf courses, Glenmarie Golf and Country Club has a range of facilities to offer visitors including a swimming pool, tennis courts, squash courts and a fitness centre.
